Paenibacillus chitinolyticus KFRI-sea08-36, a Gram-positive bacterium isolated from fermented shrimp paste, is known for its chitin degradation capability. The complete genome, comprising 5,986,484 bp with a GC content of 53.6%, contains 5,411 protein-coding genes, 89 tRNA genes, and 30 rRNA genes. Key genes associated with chitinase activity, vitamin B12 biosynthesis, and carbohydrate metabolism were identified. Phylogenetic analysis confirmed its close relationship to P. chitinolyticus NBRC 15660T (99.19% 16S rRNA similarity). PathogenFinder analysis revealed no pathogenicity-related genes. These findings highlight its potential for industrial applications, particularly in chitin waste bioconversion and sustainable bioproduct development.
